After a long battle with metastatic bone cancer I lost my dog, Malcolm, in 2006. Though he wasn't my blood he was my boy and his loss inspired me to commit my life to eradicating this dreadful disease.
So in March 2008 I sold my truck, put my stuff into storage and my two dogs, Hudson & Murphy, set off on a cross country trek from Austin to Boston to share our story.
Boston was a tremendous success - thank you to everyone who participated. Best guess is between 300-400 people were there. It was a spectacular end to a fantastic journey.
We thank god for providing us with safe passage throughout the 826 days we were on the road and the angels that walked all 2,300 miles with us.
But Boston wasn't a victory lap and now that the walk is over, the work begins.
Unfortunately, shortly after our arrival in Boston Murphy was diagnosed with cancer - nasal adenocarcinoma. He is currently undergoing radiation therapy at Colorado State University Animal Cancer Center
Murphy's condition will be continuously updated on our blog
